that pinoy called reynaldo lapuz...

move over william hung, reynaldo lapuz is here.

im sure you are all familiar with American Idol and are particularly interested in its first episodes where they show people auditioning as they scour the different places in US for constestants. And if you were patient enough even though you are experiencing gas because of laughing, you'd remember REYNALDO LAPUZ - 44 years old, from Dallas, male, whom people, at the sight of him, would bow down because of his 'royal'/elvis/furry/birdy white custome that comes with a cape. He was the last contestant, and the one that made the judges sing and dance with him.

When I first saw him, I was like - "is he filipino?" ..."oh my God! he IS Filipino?!!!"... but the initial shock didn't last long. I was amused. Filipinos are slowly making a mark in the world. And now, here's one who was able to put his flag on American Idol.

I was scared to hear him sing, but when he did - he actually could. Unlike William Hung, he hit his notes right...well, who could say he didn't, he was singing his own composition. He wasn't rude, he was grateful, and he gracefully accepted the word "NO". In fact, He was in tears in the end, grateful to have been given the chance, and as he puts it..."free of charge" (o diba pinoy talaga).

Simon you are a great person.

You give chance to everyone to sing to the whole world. I thank you.
You are heaven’s chosen to give chance to any talent for free of charge.

Even they throw you negative words, but there are many people who really like you, who really admire you.
One of them is me, you are a great person, Simon.

Funny how I can transparently see his being a Filipino. His manners, his humility, his gratefulness for little small things, his bad taste in costumes (ehe!). Others call it, colonial mentality. Maybe...maybe not. But one thing I am sure of, I am proud of him for understanding the word "NO". Didn't cajoled the judges, didn't threatened, did't even begged for a second chance. Being denied and not accepting it is more humiliating than singing the wrong note. Being a bad singer is better than being someone who doesn't have manners.

So everyone who knows the song ... sing ^.^

I am your brother
Your best friend forever
Singing the songs
The music that you like
We’re brothers til the end of time
Together forever til the end of time
I am your brother
Your best friend forever
Singing the songs
The music that you like
We’re brothers til the end of time
Together or not, you’re always in my heart
Your hurting feelings
Will reign no more.

ive watched his video for a couple of times coz twas over aired on tv and radio stations. i feel so proud being a filipino. if it wasnt about the age, etc., i think he would get it till finals. accepting 'no' gave him a chance to be more popular than others!
filipinos are just great.i cant wait for him becoming a real star along with charice pempengco, arnel pineda, vincent bueno and more!:-)
